Symmetry Products with Ellagic acid: Genesis
Ellagic acid is a polyphenol antioxidant found in some plants including apples, raspberries, strawberries, cranberries, walnuts, pecans and most famously found in pomegranates. Plants produce ellagic acid and glucose that combine to form ellagitannins, which are water soluble compounds that are very easy for animals and humans to absorb into their body.
Ellagic acid is an antioxidant and has been found to cause apoptosis (natural cell death) in cancer cells in the lab. And, it may help the liver break down or remove some cancer-causing substances from the blood as well. One 2004 study published in the journal Clinical Nutrition showed clearing of plaque from the carotid artery after three years of supplementation with pomegranate juice, which contains ellagic acid.
