Symmetry Products with Aloe:   Aloe Plus, Extreme Fuel, Ultra Vitality, Genesis

Aloe is best known for its ability to improve the healing of minor burns and skin irritations when applied topically. Aloe’s immune-supporting activity has also been well documented. Several different constituents including acemannan and aloeride are thought to be the active immune-supporting constituents in aloe. Acemannan, a major carbohydrate fraction of aloe gel, supports healthy immune responses. Acemannan appears to stimulate the activity on dendritic cells, highly specialized cells that are amongst the first cells to come in contact with foreign bodies and are the most important accessory cells for the initiation of a primary immune response.

Aloeride has recently been characterized as an immune system stimulant in aloe vera juice. Aloeride appears to activate macrophages, special immune system cells responsible for scavenging and eliminating foreign bodies, including invading microorganisms.

Aloe vera has also been found to contain a phenolic compound with antioxidant activity. This antioxidant activity is suggested to support the health of the liver, probably due to its inhibition of lipid peroxidation.

The benefits attributed to aloe ingestion include:

  • Support of gastrointestinal tract health and support regularity
  • Support of cardiovascular system health, help maintain normal blood lipid levels
  • Antioxidant activity prevents damage caused by free radicals
  • Support of immune system function

The benefits attributed to topical aloe application are:

  • Soothing and healing effects on minor burns and skin irritations
  • Support of overall health and vitality of the skin
  • Moisturizes and softens the skin for a more youthful appearance
